How Do The New Grade Boundaries Work

In the infinite wisdom of those who decide such things, the way that grades are represented changed last year from a letter system to a number one. In my view this is just a way of confusing us all when we had just got to grips with the idea that the top grade was no longer an A, but an A*.  Whatever the merits of this new idea, here is a table of comparison which may shed some light on this otherwise commonly misunderstood initiative.
